The Global Talent route provides an opportunity for leave to enter or remain in the UK for individuals in the fields of natural and medical sciences, engineering, humanities and social sciences, digital technology, research and innovation, and arts and culture (inclusive of film, television, fashion and design, and architecture).
Applicants can apply under either the ‘exceptional promise’ category or ‘exceptional talent’. Exceptional promise refers to those who are potential leaders in their field, whereas exceptional talent refers to those who are already leaders in their field.
If your application is successful, you will be granted leave for the period you requested in your application, up to 5 years. If you wish to stay in the UK for longer, you can apply to renew your visa as many times as you like, provided that you can still meet the eligibility requirements for extending.

Applying for the Global Talent visa is typically a two-stage process. Before you can be granted a Global Talent visa, you must usually obtain an endorsement from one of the Home Office approved endorsing bodies. There is no requirement to obtain an endorsement if you have won a prestigious prize as set in Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes of the Immigration Rules. The endorsing body you need to apply to depends on the field in which you work. For this field, Tech Nation will assess your application.
An applicant for endorsement in the field of digital technology must:
a) if you are a technical applicant, you must have proven technical expertise with the latest technologies in building, using, deploying, or exploiting a technology stack and building technical infrastructure; or
b) if you are a business applicant, that you have proven commercial, investment, or product expertise in building digital products or leading investments in significant digital product businesses.
To support your endorsement application (Stage 1), you will need to provide the following documents:
· A copy of your curriculum vitae (‘CV’) with any career and publication history included. It must be typed and be up to 3 sides of A4 paper.
· A Personal Statement (maximum 1000 words in length) written by you to explain the contribution that you will make to the UK digital technology sector. The statement should be relevant and consistent to the rest of your application, including answers to the following questions and any other information you deem relevant:
· All applicants must provide three letters of recommendation from three different well-established individuals acknowledged as experts in the digital technology field, with detailed knowledge of your work over a period of 12 months or more, supporting your Global Talent application, which include all of the following:
Each letter must:
a) Be signed by the author, or by someone on behalf of the organisation recommending you.
b) Be typed and dated.
c) Be up to 3 single sides of A4 paper, excluding the author’s credentials and contact details.
d) Include a telephone number and e-mail address, and the organisation’s logo and registered address, if applicable.
e) Come with the author’s CV (or other proof of their credentials that the endorsing body will accept).
· An applicant evidencing exceptional promise must provide:
(a) Two pieces of evidence to show they have been recognised as having potential to be a leading talent in the digital technology field in the last five years; and
(b) Provide at least two pieces of evidence of at least two of the following (four pieces in total):
i. innovation as a founder of a product led digital technology company or as an employee working on a new digital field or concept; or
ii. proof of recognition for work beyond the applicant’s occupation that contributes to the advancement of the field; or
iii. you have made significant technical, commercial, or entrepreneurial contributions to the field as a founder or employee of a product-led digital technology company; or
iv. you have demonstrated exceptional ability in the field by academic contributions through research endorsed by an expert; and
(c) be at an early stage in their career.
· If you are a business applicant applying under either the exceptional talent or the exceptional promise criteria, you must provide evidence of any commercially successful established businesses, share ownership, or businesses dissolved in the last five years where you have been a founder or senior executive.
